A symbolic snapshot of a moment
A birth chart begins with something concrete: the positions of celestial bodies at the time of a birth. Astronomy calculates those positions; astrology assigns symbolic interpretations to them. These are different activities. A reproducible calculation does not make its interpretation a fact about your personality.
A useful reading can begin as a conversation. Instead of asking whether a statement defines you, consider what it invites you to observe and what does not fit. You do not have to recognize yourself in every sentence to enjoy the experience.
The Sun and Moon play different symbolic roles
In astrological language, the Sun often represents identity and expression; the Moon, care and emotional life. These are associations within a symbolic tradition. They cannot diagnose psychological conditions or predict a person’s behavior.
Mercury, Venus and Mars add other themes: communication, values and action. Exploring several positions can offer a richer experience than a single label, provided there is always room to disagree.
Signs, constellations and degrees
The tropical zodiac divides the ecliptic into twelve 30-degree segments. It is not a map of constellation boundaries. In this system, “Sun in Aries” refers to a segment of the tropical zodiac, not necessarily to the astronomical constellation with the same name.
Degrees locate a position within that segment. Near a sign boundary, a generic calendar date may not be enough. It helps to calculate the actual moment and state the uncertainty when the birth time is missing.
Read without putting yourself in a box
Choose a statement that interests you. Write down a real example that supports it and another that challenges it. Then turn the interpretation into an open question. “You are impulsive” might become “When do I act quickly, and when would waiting help?”.
