How to calculate your personal year: a worked example

The details you need

Use your birth day and month, plus the year you want to explore. Your birth year is not part of this calculation. This is why the result changes with the chosen year, while your life path uses your complete birth date.

This tutorial uses a calendar-year convention, January to December, and always reduces to a single digit from 1 to 9. Other conventions count from a birthday. Record your method before comparing results.

Example: 14 February, looking at 2026

Choose an example birthday and an explicit year. You do not need a birth time or location.

   Gather the details

   14 / 02 + 2026

   Use the birth day and month, with 2026 as the year to explore.

   Add their digits

   1 + 4 + 0 + 2 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 17

   Do not add 1980 if that happens to be the birth year.

   Reduce to one digit

   17 → 1 + 7 = 8

   The example’s result for 2026 is 8. In this exercise, 11 would also reduce to 2.

Check what changes next year

For the same birthday in 2027, add 1 + 4 + 0 + 2 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 18; then 1 + 8 = 9. Only the reference year has changed. Repeat it on paper and underline the digits that changed.

The term universal year refers to a calculation using only the year’s digits. A personal year also uses the birth day and month. Neither sum guarantees events or financial outcomes.
