Start with a moment that already exists

Choose a real transition: after washing your face, before breakfast or at the start of your working day. If you work nights, your morning might happen in the afternoon.

Choose one reminder, such as putting your cup on the table. The ritual should fit your day; there is no ideal time you have to copy.

Give each minute a simple role

Spend one minute noticing how you arrive today and two writing what is on your mind. In the fourth minute, choose a small action. Use the last minute to prepare its first step.

For example: “I have several unfinished things. Today I want to answer that message. I will write the opening sentence.” You do not have to solve everything or feel a particular way.

Make an ordinary object meaningful

A song, a cup or the light through a window can mark this moment. If you enjoy symbols, choose one as a reminder of your intention; it needs no special properties.

Try “today I want to listen before replying” as you open a notebook. You choose the meaning; it does not depend on your sign, age or a perfect routine.

Keep a thirty-second version

Some days will not have five spare minutes. Keep just two questions: “What is in front of me?” and “What is my next step?” There is no backlog to catch up on.

Try it on three mornings, then review what felt comfortable. Keep one part, change another or stop. Its usefulness in your own life is the point of the exercise.
